About Glenis (the maker)
Curious about the hands behind the lampshades, sculptures, and shimmering surfaces? Here’s a little about me.
Q: Who are you? I’m Glenis—a London-based artist, designer, and creative strategist with Caribbean heritage and a love for bold textures, playful light, and unexpected materials. I make things that charm, provoke, and transform everyday spaces.
Q: What is Home Office Charm? It’s my evolving studio and showcase. A place where handcrafted decor meets storytelling. I create lampshades, sculptures, and mixed media pieces that bring personality to workspaces and homes. Think shimmer, structure, and a touch of rebellion.
Q: What inspires your work? Colour, contrast, and cultural memory. I’m drawn to natural textures, vintage silhouettes, and the quiet drama of light. My pieces often start with a question: “What if this belonged in a gallery?” Or on a bookshelf, in a home office, in a spa, or in a living room? Then I go from there.
Q: Do you take commissions? Yes! I love collaborating. Whether it’s a custom lampshade, a sculptural centerpiece, or a gift set with a story, I welcome ideas. Just reach out and we’ll explore what’s possible.
Q: Where can I buy your work? New designs drop every season. Subscribe for updates, or you can buy pieces on Etsy. You’ll find one-of-a-kind pieces, limited editions, and occasional surprises. Follow along on Instagram or subscribe for early previews.
Q: Are your pieces functional or decorative? Both. I believe beauty should be useful and usefulness should be beautiful. My lamps light up rooms and conversations. My sculptures invite touch and reflection. Everything is made to be lived with.
Q: What’s next for you? I’m expanding into more sculptural forms and experimenting with AI-enhanced design of art-based leadership development workshops. I’m also exploring how creative objects can support wellbeing, identity, and joy in everyday life.
Q: Can I visit your studio? Not yet, but virtual studio tours and behind-the-scenes blog posts are coming soon. For now, the best way to connect is through my contact page or social channel.
