Striking double height lampshades for a double height space

I went browsing in Heals of London a couple of years ago and I was inspired by these double height lampshade sizes I saw.

The version I saw was made of Cork but what struck me was the size, they were 20 cm in diameter and 40 cm tall so in essence they were double height lampshades. And because my space is double height ceiling with 5m window height I’ve always been keen on finding how best to balance out the decoration in such a mammoth space .

So I made these double height lamp shades out of some fabric that I got from the Designers Guild sale recently. Then during my break I made these while catching up with a box set of some USA TV.

The name of the fabric is Aubriet lino and the colour is damson .

I love how it looks so floral and pretty but also it looks very organic and earthy with it’s burlap or raw linen backgrounds.

Gold Spun Poppies

I didn’t mean to. It just happened that way that I created an image with poppies that look like they are Dazed and Confused .

I created this image using my usual atmospheric landscape mindset and experimented with red because I don’t really use red. Red is one of those colours that I hate immensely, so I have always avoided using red in paintings.

But I’m finding I quite like this image. I’m surprised at how beautiful it looks and almost traditional it feels in its floral nature. When I took up the activity of painting, in my mind’s eye, I couldn’t imagine myself being a life painter and that’s why I decided to go down the abstract painting route.

However looking at this rather appealing image of shall we say, spun out poppies, I think it is possible for me to pursue being a painter of floral patterns.

Root chakra auras: Copper, grey, green, red acrylic fantasy landscape abstract:

One for you to interpret. I was at first lost for words. Initially  I liked the combination of reds greens, yellows and grey. Then I decided it looks like a cluster of spirited trees beside a lake.

The trees look like they are giving off their warm aura and in this fantasy landscape it is very possible that their aura is visible. In eastern medicine, the colour of the root chakra is red -Chakra – Muladhara and that is about safety, survival, grounding. According to http://www.chakras.info/chakra-colors/

How nicely surprising that my fantasy landscape lake trees are grounding or at least signify being grounded.
