It’s my home town, Hammersmith.
My mum worked as Bank Clark at the Cooperative Bank in Kings Street, Coop department store. We lived on Colet Gardens which makes our end sound posher than it was. It was peaceful and mild, nevertheless. In hindsight I could have gone for more walks by the river when I was younger. However we did walk to school.
Incedently, Hammersmith is the location of the Fulham Gilliatt girls school class of 79 or 80 or 81 regular reunions (my mind is foggy about what class we were in). But this year we are celebrating 50 years of friendship. BTW If you’re an old FGGS pupil from our year, please do get in touch if you’re reading this and wondering where we are. I love Hammersmith Bridge. Did you know it has beautiful lights. The colour and lines is inspiring a series of art pieces. I’ll link back when I’m done.

I love Riverside Studios, famous for staging Have I got News For You (my fav TV show) and the old FGIF TV show. It recently had a revamp and has a swanky fish restaurant attached as well as a decent eating area in the studio. Us locals go to watch our independent films there (I mostly go to Acton new India cinema now, since being one of the listed benefactors).
At Riverside Studios yesterday they had some event about Tarantino called Tarantino Live. We didn’t go to that but while lunching with an old friend, there, we heard them announcing part two over the tannoy which made me start sing the Bananarama song about Robert De Niro. Wrong director right era.

The River. Such a massive body of water with many powers. I remember leading a very spiritual and cleansing hen party ritual downstream at Chelsea Harbour when another friend got married moons ago.
I might live in the city, but I’m grateful to pull on a wide array of inspirational moments and memories to inspire my art.
