The featured imaged is AI. The machine computed what my blog was about and created a picture with that massive light with feathers. It made me chuckle 🤣.There is another AI generated image at the end of the blog. However, all of the images in the middle were taken by me.
This week I had some time mid week to wander around my favourite interior trade suppliers in Chelsea Design Centre. Being a West Londoner, hailing from Fulham Lots Road is very familiar to me.

Below shows more images of things that took my fancy. They show trimmings or lighting features that either conjured up excitement or a sense of cosy familiarity for me…

I went to DSCH initially to explore brushed fringing as I love the texture of the jute in the Bali range by Samuel’s & Son, as I intend to do more of the hessian empire lampshades. Then wandering around I got some ideas for possible colour schemes for the new product range, that I have been bursting to bring to life (its in my head). I had in mind that the Etsy design awards are on this year and closing date coincides with when I have some time to create my new product design and enter it into the competition. The images below are casual snaps that I took for my memory and potential mood board.

After spending a few hours having lovely long chats with the various shop attendants and even meeting Wendy who is a master passementerie maker (only six of them in the UK), the visit confirmed I was on the right track with my lighting design. It became clear that I might need to change the colour or do a variety while including yellow metallics, marbling and velvety trimming in some form, to create my new look.

Shops that I visited and had lovely chats or took photos in were:
- Porta Romana
- Phillip Jeffries
- Harlequin for fabric samples
For great trimmings
- Samuel & Sons
- Whatts 1874
- Houles
- Wendy Cushing at Jason D’Souza
